The ODPM with CABE and English Partnerships launched six schemes in May 2004 to trial design coding as part of the government response to the Barker and Egan reviews. Looks at Florida new town development, Seaside, as a model of design coding, which has inspired John Prescott's thinking in this area. Gathers positive industry views on the future of design coding in the UK as a means of producing an incredibly diverse assembly of contemporary buildings of higher quality.
