<br/><br/> Discusses the role of CEN in harmonising standards between EC member states and eliminating technical barriers. EOTC has been set up by the EC and EFTA to set standards for testing and certification, based on the principle of mutual recognition rather than uniformity. European standards , Eurocodes and the giving of CE marks on products which meet requirements of EC directives such as the Construction Products Directive are described.
