Act swiftly to settle a breach of safety claim - 2004 - Construction News (6896) 9 December 2004, 26(1) .

Recommends that a few precautionary measures can reduce the risk of employees getting injured and help to lower the cost of legal fees, damages and breach of safety fines. Discusses an unnamed case where an accident to an employee resulted in him not being able to work in the construction industry again. Claimant contested that the defendants had created false documents, to prove their case that the claimant should have known not to enter an unsupported pit. Suggests the defendant should have admitted liability and worked towards rehabilitating the claimant back to work, which would have resulted in smaller damages and costs.
