A survey of Irish agribusinesses found that 55% had a website. The reasons given by respondents for developing a website included the need to improve their promotions strategy and it's use as a key method for external communication with customers. The use of ebusiness in the supply side was not considered as important with only 20% reporting that eprocurement was an important issue. About two thirds said the main obstacle to continued ebusiness growth was that customers were not ready for ebusiness. The costs of developing a website and a lack of technological skills were also seen as inhibiting factors. Eighty-five percent of businesses without a website intended to develop one, while 72% believed that ebusiness would change the way their industry would do business in the next five to seven years.
