Contractorisation - aspects of health and safety in the supply chain - Sudbury HSE 2003

This report investigates the reality behind the perception that contractorisation was increasing health and safety risks, particularly in smaller companies. Three sectors representing a range of health and safety cultures were looked at with the main aim of establishing whether this perception was real; how the HSE was viewed; and the driving forces for health and safety. The study found that this perception was not borne out amongst those people consulted and, in fact, some positive benefits of contractorisation were highlighted. Concludes that HSE should produce guidance on who is responsible for contractor's employees working at third parties' premises. View at www.hse.gov.uk.
