Of special interest to chartered surveyors are amendments to the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 regarding the resolution of disputes by third party determinations; the Insolvency Act 1986 regarding authorisation of insolvency practitioners; the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and the Highways Act 1980 regarding private and public rights of way and reducing the qualifying period for the Right to Buy under the Housing Act 1985 Part 5. There are a number of key changes as to how tenancy deposits are dealt with by adding a new s 215 to the Housing Act 2004 (Principle Act) and amending the Housing (Tenancy Deposits)(Prescribed Information) Order 2007 with regards to the provision of information by agents regarding the deposit paid by tenants and procedures for dealing with non-compliance.
