Summary: Results of research commissioned by Halifax to explore people's perceptions of the first time buyers market. 8000 individuals between 24 and 45 took part in an online survey based on the findings of a number of focus groups in London and Manchester. Highlights the concept of generation rent described as a generation with no prospect of owning their own homes over the next five years. Looks at aspirations for ownership, pessisimism towards first time buyers and the mortgage process and lack of motivation for saving up for a deposit.
